Small Text Generator

Type anything and get three styles of small text to copy and paste: ꜱᴍᴀʟʟ ᴄᴀᴘꜱ, raised ᵗⁱⁿʸ letters and lowered ₛᵤbₛcᵣᵢₚₜ. They are real Unicode characters, so they keep their look in Instagram and TikTok bios, Discord names, tweets and comments.

ꜱᴍᴀʟʟ ᴄᴀᴘꜱ, every letter, best for names and bios
Superscript (tiny)
ᵗⁱⁿʸ raised letters, no q in Unicode
Subscript

How to make small text

  1. Type or paste your text in the box.
  2. Pick the style you like: the three versions update as you type.
  3. Press Copy and paste it wherever you want: a bio, a username, a caption, a message.

How does small text work?

Apps like Instagram and TikTok don’t let you change font size, and they strip formatting when you paste. A small text generator gets around that by replacing each normal letter with a different Unicode character that looks like a smaller version of it. Unicode includes these characters for phonetics, mathematics and linguistics, ᴀ is “Latin letter small capital A”, ᵃ is “modifier letter small a”. Because they are ordinary text, not styling, they survive copy and paste.

The three styles

  • Small caps (ᴛɪɴʏ): capital letter shapes at lowercase height. The most complete and readable set: every letter has a form.
  • Superscript (ᵗⁱⁿʸ): letters raised above the line, like exponents. Unicode has every lowercase letter except q, and most capitals.
  • Subscript (ₜᵢₙy): letters below the line, like chemical formulas (H₂O). Unicode only has about half the alphabet, so missing letters stay normal.

Small text alphabet

Every letter in each style, generated by the same code as the tool. A letter that looks unchanged has no small form in Unicode.

Where small text works

Small caps and superscript display correctly in Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), Facebook, Discord, WhatsApp, Telegram, Reddit and most modern apps and browsers. A few older devices may show an empty box (□) for rare characters such as superscript capitals. If that happens, use the small caps style, it has the best support.

Things to keep in mind

  • Accessibility: screen readers may read small text letter by letter or skip it. Keep important information in normal text.
  • Search: ᴛɪɴʏ isn’t the same word as “tiny” to search engines or in-app search, so people won’t find you by searching for those words.
  • Usernames: some platforms only allow plain letters in handles; display names usually accept Unicode.

FAQ

Is the small text generator free?

Yes, with no signup and no limits. Everything runs in your browser.

Why are some letters not small?

Unicode doesn’t have a small version of every letter in every style, notably q in superscript and about half the alphabet in subscript. Those letters are kept as normal characters, and the tool tells you which ones.

How do I make text superscript in Word or Google Docs?

Use the formatting shortcut instead: Ctrl + Shift + + in Word, or Ctrl + . in Google Docs. Unicode small text is for places that don’t support formatting.

Can I convert small text back to normal?

Not with this tool, it converts in one direction. Small text that’s pasted back in stays as it is, so keep a plain copy of anything you may need to edit later.
