How to convert SVG to PNG

Why the PNG stays sharp at any size

SVG is a vector format: shapes are stored as math, not pixels. A naive converter renders the SVG at its small default size and then stretches the bitmap, which gives blurry edges. This tool rewrites the SVG's width and height to the output size before rendering, so the browser draws every curve directly at the final resolution. A 24 px icon exported at 8× comes out as a clean 192 px PNG, not an upscaled blur.

If the SVG has no width/height, its viewBox sets the size. If it has neither, browsers fall back to 300 × 150 px — the same default this tool uses. The largest side is capped at 8,192 px to stay within browser canvas limits.

PNG vs JPEG vs WebP

PNG — lossless and supports transparency. The right choice for logos, icons and anything with sharp edges or text.
JPEG — no transparency (transparent areas become white or your chosen color). Only worth it when the SVG contains photo-like gradients and file size matters.
WebP — supports transparency and is usually smaller than PNG. Supported by every modern browser; check older apps before relying on it.

When to convert an SVG to PNG at all

On the web, keep SVG wherever you can — it is smaller and scales perfectly. Convert to PNG when the destination doesn't accept SVG: email clients (most block SVG), social networks and Open Graph images, app-store and PWA icons, Microsoft Office and Google Slides in some setups, chat apps, and older CMS image fields.

Troubleshooting

Text shows in the wrong font

An SVG rendered as an image can't load web fonts from other files. Convert text to outlines in your design tool (Figma: Outline stroke / Flatten; Illustrator: Create Outlines; Inkscape: Object to Path), or embed the font in the SVG as a data URI.

Embedded images are missing

For the same security reason, <image href="photo.jpg"> pointing at another file won't load. Embed the image as a data: URI inside the SVG instead.

“The browser couldn't render this SVG”

The markup has a syntax error — often an unclosed tag, an unescaped &, or HTML pasted around the SVG. Open the file in a browser tab to see the parser error, fix it, and try again.

FAQ

Is the SVG to PNG converter free?

Yes — free, unlimited, no signup and no watermark.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The SVG is drawn onto a canvas by your own browser and the PNG is created locally. Nothing is sent to a server, which also makes it safe for unreleased logos and client work.

Does the PNG keep a transparent background?

Yes. PNG and WebP keep transparency unless you choose a solid background. JPEG has no alpha channel, so it is always flattened onto white or the color you pick.

Can I convert several SVGs at once?

Yes. Select or drop multiple files; each is converted with the same settings and can be downloaded individually or all together.

What is the maximum output size?

8,192 px on the longest side. Larger canvases exceed the limits of many browsers and phones.
